á AA/PI- Asian American/Pacific Islander Resource Center

Academic Preceptors-work with students to develop their plans for their
academic careers. They are a vital
link in the network of addressing student concerns, as they will alert you to
students who have been missing their classes and/or are failing their classes.

ACAO-Associate College Administrative Officer (every
college has one)

ACE-Academic Excellence Program

AIS-Academic Information Services
á
AOD-Alcohol and Other Drugs prevention program through
Health Services
á
ARC-Academic Resource Center (home to STARS, EOP and the
Learning Center)

AVC-Associate Vice Chancellor (Jean-Marie Scott is the AVC
in Student Affairs responsible for CUHS.)
á
BaSS-Business and Support Services for CUHS (payroll and
personnel people, located off-campus at DASCOM and also included in this
department is CHO)
á
CAO-College Administrative Officer (one per two sister
colleges)
á
CHO-Campus Housing Office located in the Hahn building,
primarily our account advisers

CA- At Kresge Community Assistants serve the same role
as RAs, at College 8 Community
Assistants do community wide programs but not enforcement type activities and
are in addition to RAs, at Oakes their Community Assistants are student
programming workers who work for the CPC
á
CamFac-Campus Facilities, they will help you nights and
weekends with emergency building repairs and custodial needs
á
CC-Community Coordinator who serve a similar role as a
RA at the Camper Park
á
CPA-College Programming Assistant at Colleges 9 and 10
and Merrill assist the CPC
á
CPC-College Programs Coordinator Ð they coordinate college
wide activities usually.

CPS-Counseling and Psychological Services or sometimes
called Psych Services
á
DASCOM-the building that houses the CUHS IT department and
the CUHS Business Service Center.
Located on Mission near Western Drive.

DRC-Disability Resource Center

EAOP-Early Academic Outreach program

EAP-Education Abroad Program

EH&S-Environmental Health and Safety, they can help you out
with workplace hazards, OSHA issues, and hazardous waste

EOP-Educational Opportunity Programs Ð every college has
an advisor and they do study skills workshops open to all students. However most of their services are
targeted to the students in their program.

ER-Employee Request Ð this is the system you use through
the Career Center to hire student staff.
Also used in Staff Human Resources to recruit for non-student positions.

FSA-Food Service AdvisorÑa student who gets a partial room rebate to serve as
the liaison between the students and the dining halls. Each college has a FSA on their
residential staff.

ITS -
Information Technology Services Ñthey do computer assistance for the labs and
faculty. They also oversee the publication of the directory and oversee the
telephone system for students (See SCS) as well as all business lines. We have our own IT support as part of
CUHS who will assist you with computer problems. They are located at DASCOM as part of BaSS.

PA-CrownÕs programming assistants (see also CPA) or at
Merrill a Peer Advisor

CSO- Community Safety Officers - works nights to build
community with the residents, to address safety and security issues, and to
enforce policy

Provost-each college has a provost who serves as the academic
leader
á
RA- Resident Advisor (Porter, College 9 and 10, Crown) or
Resident Assistant (Cowell, College 8,Stevenson, Merrill, Garduate Student
housing, The Village), the students who take responsibility for developing
community in their buildings, halls or floors.

RDS-Residential and Dining Services Ð all the non-college
affiliated housing options including Camper Park, Family Student Housing,
Graduate Housing, University Town Center, UCSC Inn, and the Village. This department also oversees food
services.

ResNet-The computer networking people who help residents get
hooked up and also disconnect students who have violated copyright and/or file
sharing
á
RLH- stands for Residential Life and Housing monthly
meeting. In the past the group has
met as a whole but may meet independently next year

SA-Student Affairs

SHS- Student Housing Services, includes the Community
Rentals Office and the Marketing Department as well as our account advisers are considered SHS

SHO-Student Housing On-Line Ð the computer system that
allows the students to apply for housing and the Housing Coordinators to place
students in rooms

SOAR-Student Organization Advising and Resources

SUA-Student Union Assembly

TAPS-Transportation and Parking Services, the people that
provide you with a parking pass and also to rent a campus vehicle for trips

UCSC Inn-Formerly a Holiday Inn, this hotel now provides
student housing on the first four of its five floors with the fifth floor being
for hotel guests. This housing
option is only open to continuing students, reentry students and new transfers.

UTC- University Town Center is a residential site located
downtown and should not be confused with the University Center on campus
á
Village, the-a housing until located near the Lower Quarry on Hagar
Drive, they house continuing students and new transfers in modular home units.
